Visiting Festivals

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we invite your festival’s royalty to join us for the opening weekend of the 50th edition of Festival du Voyageur being held Friday February 15th to Monday February 18th, 2019. We’re looking forward to meeting your delegates and celebrating Western Canada’s largest winter festival with them.

Friday, February 15, 2019

Guests check in at the Fairmont Hotel when they arrive. Usual check in is from 3pm but the hotel will do its best to accommodate those arriving before 3pm.

For your information: Orientation dinner will be held in the Hospitality suite at 4:30 p.m. Bar opens at 3:30 p.m.

3:30pm Distribution of schedules and information kits to participants, Bar will be open.

4:30pm Dinner

5:00 pm Welcoming remarks

6:00pm Walk to the Festi-Bar for the start of the torchlight parade. Dress warmly, take your banners, flags, costumes and accessories.
• Please arrive at orientation with partial layers on. Bring your jackets and costumes, etc. We will be leaving directly from the Hospitality suite to the Torchlight walk.

6.30pm Start of the torchlight procession from the Festi-Bar.

6:45pm Transport from hotel to the park for those with reduced mobility.

7:15pm Parade arrives at Parc du Voyageur for the opening ceremonies. A space will be reserved for the Visiting Festivals. Volunteers will direct participants to this space.
8:00 pm After the opening ceremony, participants are invited to visit the park. They will have in hand an official program with the list of concerts and activities. (or download our app)

10:00pm Bus departure to the Fairmont Hotel.

11:00pm Bus departure to the Fairmont Hotel.

10:00-2:00am Hospitality suite is open. Alcohol service until 2:00 am. Lombard Room (basement)

Saturday February 16, 2019

8:30-9:45 Cold breakfast, hot coffee & tea in the hospitality suite.

10:00 Departure from the hotel to Voyageur Park
• Warm, casual clothing recommended.
Dress warmly and do not forget your passes. Colin Mackie, the Manager of Heritage and
Education Programs, will welcome you with a special presentation. You will then be able to visit
the park and its many daytime activities and concerts.

2:30 pm Departure to the hotel by bus.

4:30pm Departure from the Fairmont to St. Boniface Cathedral for the opening mass. Places will
be reserved for our guests.
• Formal attire.

5:00pm Opening Mass

5:50pm Bus will pick up those who did not attend mass at the Fairmont. Please be ready in lobby
at 5:45.

6:10pm Bus will pick up mass attendees and drop-off at Canadian Museum of Human Rights
(CMHR) for dinner.

6:30pm Dinner at the CMHR. Cash bar.

10:00pm First departure to the Fairmont Hotel.
11:00pm 2nd departure to the Fairmont Hotel.

10:00-2:00am: Hospitality suite is open. Alcohol service until 2:00am. Lombard Room (basement)

Sunday February 17, 2019

8:30-10:30 Cold breakfast, hot coffee & tea in the hospitality suite.
11:00am – 2:00pm Choice of 3 activities:
♣ Guided tour of the city (lunch to go is included)
♣ Casino
♣ Shopping outing at the Forks
• Casual attire

3:00pm Departure by bus to the Marion Hotel for the gift exchange, Voyageurs Games and
dinner with a cash bar.
• Dress in team colors & don’t forget to stretch!

9:30pm Departure to the Fairmont Hotel.

10:00-2:00am: Hospitality suite is open. Alcohol service until 2 am. Lombard Room (basement)
